Rob Hopkins on “Imagination Activism” and the Transition Towns Movement

In this first interview for Evolutionary Change, I had the great pleasure of speaking with Rob Hopkins, co-founder of the international Transition Towns Movement, about two forthcoming projects: his latest book, How to Fall in Love with the Future: A Time Traveller’s Guide to Changing the World, and an ambient-electronic music album, Field Recordings from the Future.

We also spoke about how our perception of time shapes culture, 2030 as a critical threshold for climate action, his evolving relationship with the Transition Movement, the importance of cultivating longing for a regenerative future, and how to talk to cynics who believe change is no longer possible. As always, Rob was charming, funny, fierce, insightful, and deeply inspiring.
